MyState Film Festival - Synopsis

The year is 2016. Humanity and society is at its fall due to the dramatic effects of social media. People have fallen under the spell of a magical new application called “Gl4ss”. It has brainwashed many people, forcing them to, believe it or not, become addicted to glass (the object, not drug). This application is not good at all, but unfortunately, the only people that can remove the application have been brainwashed by it.

This is the story of one person, Joe Campbell. Joe Campbell is a student at St. Aloysius Catholic College, and he dreams of becoming an officer in a police group, the GWPD. The GWPD (Glass and Windows Police Department) specialise in making sure that the streets are safe. The GWPD are recruited by their immunity to the application. If you are immune, you will be recruited. Joe’s best friend is Sam. Sam is just the typical run-of-the-mill person, but he has a very good bond with Joe.

Joe meets other people whilst patrolling the streets. He meets Daniel, an older man that is in love with a window because of this new application. Daniel is in a care home, which has no windows in it, to recover from the effects of the application. He does well, apart from him finding a phone on the ground, and he starts to be secretly in love with the phone. Nobody else knows about this, apart from his best friend that he met when he was 6, Kieran.

Another two women seen on Joe’s journeys in the force are Taylah and Brittany. Taylah is a lead drug dealer on the streets, and Brittany is her associate. They recently got their hands on some new merchandise, called glass. Glass is the latest drug on the streets, and it is very addictive. The GWPD have set up a fake buyer, and are planning to catch the criminal, however you never know what could happen.

In the end, Joe and Sam become really good friends with Taylah and Brittney, and Joe and Sam analyse their brain and their reactions to everyday tasks, and eventually Joe and Sam hack into the app developer’s computer and change the code until it is perfect, and not broken.

How-To Project

In photography and media class, we had to make a how to project that fell under 2 minutes. Maison and I came up with this video, and I think it was amazing, although the product we made did not taste amazing. You can view it by clicking on the image above.

Voiceover Project

In photography and media class, we have been making voiceover videos with the creative commons tag. All video and music had to be from the creative commons licensing.

Our video (Maison and Will W) was about a MLG quikscoper that drinks all the mountain dew and eats all of the doritos (cool ranch only). You can watch our video by clicking here.

Botanical Gardens Excursion

On the Botanical Gardens excursion, we took multiple photos. Here are my best ones.

Session 1 - Chinese Gardens
Theme: Quirky Protraits
I used: Angles and Framing

Here are my top 2:

This photo is of Angus. He was being very quirky at the time, so I thought it would be a good photo to use for the quirky portraits.

This photo is of Jack. I used my fingers as a picture frame for this photo, and looking at Jack's face, he looks a little bit quirky!

Session 2 - The Lake
Theme: Amazing Nature
I used: Macro and Reflections

Here are my top 2:

This was a photo of one of the rocks at the lake. I used macro for this photo.

This was a photo of one of the trees at the lake. I also used macro for this photo. I like the patterns on the tree where the bark had been ripped off.

Session 3 - Japanese Gardens
Theme: The Perfect Moment
I used: Structure, strong lines and chose colour/black and white.

Here are my top 2:

Here is a photo of the water fountain collecting and dropping water into a bowl. I used the rule of thirds for this photo.

Here is the wonderful teacher, Mrs. Menzies in her orange vest. The vest looks a little bit transparent. I cropped this, and used the rule of thirds for this photo.

Session 4 - The Walls (or other)
Theme: The Unexpected. (Or any other random photos)
I used: Juxtaposition, rule of thirds

Here are my top 2:

This is a photo of the bench in the planthouse. I used macro for this photo.

This is a photo of the roses on the wall in the planthouse. I also used macro for this photo.

Quirky Portraits and Framing

The focus today was framing and quirky portraits. Here are my top picks:

I took this photo of Maison using the rule of thirds.

I took this photo of Shikayla near the grade 5/6 playground, through one of the footholes in the wall. I used framing for this photo.

Our First Lesson

Photos from 24/6/16 in photography and media class.

This is a photo of the bench in the courtyard. I took this photo with the camera lens flush with the bench.

This is a photo of the railing on the side of the stairs. I took this photo standing up with the camera lens at a 45ยบ angle.

This is a photo of a piece of chewed gum, on the ground squashed. I took this photo laying down with the camera lens above my head a little bit.

This is a picture of a piece of timber. In the background is Angus' hand trying to take it away from me. I took this photo with macro, in looking down the timber.

This is a photo of Jack. I took this photo in the moment. The camera was right up against my face and I was not zoomed in for this photo.
