MyState Film Festival - Synopsis

The year is 2016. Humanity and society is at its fall due to the dramatic effects of social media. People have fallen under the spell of a magical new application called “Gl4ss”. It has brainwashed many people, forcing them to, believe it or not, become addicted to glass (the object, not drug). This application is not good at all, but unfortunately, the only people that can remove the application have been brainwashed by it.

This is the story of one person, Joe Campbell. Joe Campbell is a student at St. Aloysius Catholic College, and he dreams of becoming an officer in a police group, the GWPD. The GWPD (Glass and Windows Police Department) specialise in making sure that the streets are safe. The GWPD are recruited by their immunity to the application. If you are immune, you will be recruited. Joe’s best friend is Sam. Sam is just the typical run-of-the-mill person, but he has a very good bond with Joe.

Joe meets other people whilst patrolling the streets. He meets Daniel, an older man that is in love with a window because of this new application. Daniel is in a care home, which has no windows in it, to recover from the effects of the application. He does well, apart from him finding a phone on the ground, and he starts to be secretly in love with the phone. Nobody else knows about this, apart from his best friend that he met when he was 6, Kieran.

Another two women seen on Joe’s journeys in the force are Taylah and Brittany. Taylah is a lead drug dealer on the streets, and Brittany is her associate. They recently got their hands on some new merchandise, called glass. Glass is the latest drug on the streets, and it is very addictive. The GWPD have set up a fake buyer, and are planning to catch the criminal, however you never know what could happen.

In the end, Joe and Sam become really good friends with Taylah and Brittney, and Joe and Sam analyse their brain and their reactions to everyday tasks, and eventually Joe and Sam hack into the app developer’s computer and change the code until it is perfect, and not broken.
